Project
Joining Khoobi as a early team member, I led end-to-end ux design for the product from 0 to 1 for user portal and merchant portal.
Big Picture Goal
How might we create a seamless connection between customers seeking self-care beauty services and merchants aiming to improve targeted outreach and retention?

Problem Statement
There is a current disconnect for what beauty-goers wants and what current visbility business can offer
Khoobi was inspired by a common challenge: the inconsistent and frustrating experience of finding beauty services. Our founder, a former investment banker, realized that most people rely on trial and error balancing cost, quality, convenience, and environment just to care for themselves. As a result, self-care becomes reactive, not intentional.
For small salons and beauty businesses, developing a digital presence and reaching new customers is often costly and hard to manage without the right tools.

Beauty go-ers have a trial and error experiences before they find the right salon.

Self-care is meant to feel good but when the journey from discovery to booking is so disconnected, it starts to feel more like work than care. It’s hard to relax when you’re unsure if you’ve made the right choice. This right choice depends on different factors either that the expectation of quality, cost, booking, or environment. With current fragmented system from discovery to booking of existing platforms, we are left to figure it out on their own.
Key Insights
💡What if...
Customers can feel confident throughout their salon experience
Instead of feeling unsure or uncertainly, users should feel trusted in what they want and where to access them
The product should be accessible to compare prices, reviews, distances instead of doom scrolling on different places
Users deserve a streamlined solution where all three stages can be managed effortlessly within a single platform.
Khooi core product features
Khoobi makes it easy to find salons and spas that match your style, values, and needs through personalized recommendations. Plus, you’ll earn points and unlock rewards just for staying loyal to the places you love.

💭 Reflection
Be a self-starter
As the only designer of the team, I was able to advocate for design process through iterations of designs user feedbacks, user testings, and design principles.
How to scale back for MVP design as a startup
Throughout the project, I have to scale back designs with my engineers based on technical feasibility of what to built first and what to not. This means prioritizing what can be other approaches of designs that also brings the same intentions to users but easier code-base and simplified way.
What I’d do differently next time...
Due to time constraints and fast paced environoment, my project was dedicated on working on the MVP design. That said, I’d love to contribute by putting together a well-structured design system for Khoobi
Final Solution
Discover a salon you like and check rewards!

Earn points for you visit!

Reedem them for cashout on your next favorite nail salon!

Looking forward...
As MVP was launched, new features were brainstormed toward personalization through a onboarding quiz and also a reward card (communication to merchants) for reward points. However, these designs were not developed but a ton fun to explore.
